Ronse – 1988: Maurizio Fondriest alza le mani al cielo e diventa ”Monsieur le champion du monde”

28 agosto 1988. Circuito belga di Ronse, meglio conosciuto come Renaix. Maurizio Fondriest, giovanissima promessa del ciclismo azzurro, si aggiudica il titolo di Campione del Mondo di ciclismo su strada ad appena 23 anni, dopo una sola stagione tra i “pro”!

Un nome che ha ispirato il lancio lo scorso 3 luglio alla fiera Eurobike 2024 di Francoforte del modello road Ronse dalla geometria All Road, ideale per tutti i tipi di percorso e terreno, dalle salite alle “Strade Bianche”, dalle lunghe distanze agli sprint.

Quell’anno una Super Nazionale è composta dal gregario Alfredo Martini, gli ex Campioni del Mondo Beppe Saronni (1982) e Moreno Argentin (1986) e Gianni Bugno (che vincerà i Mondiali del 1991 e 1992), oltre ad Amadori, Ballerini, Bontempi, Cassani, Colagè, Gavazzi, Ghirotto e Leali.

All’ultima delle venti tornate il belga Claude Criquelion piazza uno scatto che lascia il segno. Tuttavia, Fondriest è reattivo, la gamba risponde bene e il trentino si accoda. Volano letteralmente via, da dietro Fignon prova a rientrare e Cassani fa da stopper, frenando ogni tentativo di rincorsa del gruppo.

Il canadese Steve Bauer sbanda sulla destra, allarga il gomito, manda a terra il belga Claude Criquelion e perde il passo e, allora, a settantacinque metri dall’arrivo Fondriest salta tutti e diventa campione del Mondo, portandosi immediatamente le mani sul volto in un misto di gioia, commozione e incredulità. Bauer viene squalificato, Criquelion arriva undicesimo al traguardo spingendo la bici, ormai inutilizzabile.

Una vittoria storica che segna l’inizio di una brillante carriera per il ciclista trentino che casa Fondriest celebra nel 2024 con il modello Ronse, disponibile in due colorazioni Arctic white glossy e Shadow chameleon glossy, tre allestimenti e cinque taglie.

Viene contraddistinto da:
– Telaio superleggero, realizzato in fibra di carbonio premium T700 + T800 and M40J con una struttura comfort lay-up;
– Lay-up esterno UD e spazio per coperture da 32 mm;
– Cablaggio totalmente integrato;
– Di2 e AXS ready, con manubrio monoscocca in carbonio (disponibile solo nelle configurazioni superiori);
– Ruote in carbonio tubeless ready.
